"The new, $6.6m park will provide an important link between Whangārei’s waterfront, Hātea Loop (Huarahi o te Whai) and the central city. A raised-table has also been installed at the slip-lane on Riverside Drive to improve the walking access through to the central city via Rathbone Street.
The park features an amphitheatre and great lawn for community events and general recreation, a small-scale balance Park, an interactive water feature, a large kinetic sculpture and public amenities.
The park is being built on richly historic whenua and its stories are reflected in the design. The name of the park will be revealed at a ceremony in time to come - stay tuned!"
Great words from the Whangarei District Coucil.
